Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Invicto: Launch date, Expected Price

Maruti Suzuki's highly anticipated flagship model, a hybrid MPV based on the Toyota Innova Hycross, has been officially named the Maruti Suzuki Invicto. Recently, spy shots of the fully undisguised Invicto have surfaced, confirming that it will feature a distinct front fascia compared to its Hycross counterpart.

Set to launch in India on July 5; the Invicto will occupy the pinnacle position in Maruti Suzuki's passenger vehicle lineup, representing the brand's most expensive offering.

An Unprecedented Collaboration:

The introduction of the Invicto marks a significant milestone. It will be the first instance of a Toyota vehicle sold under the Suzuki badge in India since the alliance between the two automotive giants was announced in 2017. Thus far, Maruti Suzuki has supplied vehicles to Toyota, such as the Baleno, rebadged as the Glanza, and the Vitara Brezza, the now-discontinued Urban Cruiser.

Additionally, models like the Ertiga and Ciaz are sold as Toyotas in specific international markets. This collaboration has also led to the co-development of two SUVs, namely the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, with manufacturing handled by Toyota.

Powertrain and Interior:

Maruti's flagship MPV, the Invicto, will share the same robust hybrid powertrain as the Hycross. However, whether the Invicto will also offer the standard 2.0-litre petrol engine remains to be seen. The MPV is expected to feature a distinct colour scheme inside the cabin while mirroring the Hycross' comprehensive equipment list. It is likely available in both seven- and eight-seat configurations, catering to the varying needs of customers.

Launch Date and Pricing:

The Maruti Invicto is set to hit the Indian market on July 5. The pricing is anticipated to start from Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a premium offering in its segment.

Exterior Design:

As a rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross, the Maruti Invicto will showcase similar design traits. However, notable differentiating elements include a redesigned front fascia, a distinct grille design, and unique headlights and tail lamps styling.

Interior Features:

Continuing the trend from the Innova Hycross, the Invictus interior will retain the same layout. Noteworthy features expected in the Invicto include:
A panoramic sunroof.
Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Dual-zone climate control.
A 360-degree camera.
A head-up display.
Ventilated front seats.
The dashboard will house a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with seamless connectivity options like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Safety and Variants:

Regarding safety, the Invicto will likely offer up to six airbags, vehicle stability control (VSC), a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and front and rear parking sensors. Additionally, it is expected to incorporate advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as lane-keep and departure assist, adaptive cruise control, and auto-emergency braking. Detailed information regarding the variants of the MPV is yet to be revealed by the automaker.

Competition and Conclusion:

The Maruti Invicto will not only compete with its Toyota sibling, the Innova Hycross but will also present an attractive alternative to the Kia Carens. With its anticipated pricing starting from Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom), Invicto aims to offer a compelling value proposition to customers seeking a premium MPV experience.
